Woke up really early at about 6am as my airport transfer will arrive at 7:30am. After getting ready, I waited in the lobby and used the computer for awhile. Hopped on the car at 7:30am and the driver drove to another hotel to pick up another 3 passengers (there were already 2 passengers inside before me). It seems to me that the traffic flow/direction can get confusing since I noticed that the driver seems to be taking a long route.
Reached Orly airport at around 8:40am and checked in for my easyJet flight shortly. While waiting for boarding, I had a quick and simple breakfast at a cafe. Proceeded to the gate and boarding starts on time. All passengers were told to keep all pouches in the bag, and jackets in the overhead compartment if not in use.
The plane took off on time at around 10:35am. I have a pretty good impression of easyJet with their professionalism, efficiency, ticket prices and comfort of seats even though it is a low cost carrier. It's in sharp contrast to the standards of LCC we have in Asia.
The flight is about 2 hours and we landed in Naples at around 12:35pm. Struggled to find prepaid card booths in Naples airpot and also struggled a little to find the bus stop to take the Alibus service to city centre. Also had a quick bite of Panino Napoletana. The sausages in the pastry sure tasted really salty after awhile. Paid €3 and took the Alibus service to Napoli Centrale Stazione.
At the station, I was pretty lost as all look confusing and I don't have any data connection to search for a quick guide online, or to use GPS with Google Maps. WiFi service in McDonalds needed signup and it's limited to Italian citizens only.
Quickly bought a map in one of the shops, but still gave up and took a taxi to my hostel. Paid €30 for the taxi fare though I was pretty shocked and knew he was trying to rip me off. I didn't want to argue as I was glad I finally made my way to the hostel.
To my shock, I had to climb a series of stairs up to level 4 where my hostel is. After entering the hostel, I was greeted by the friendly Australian owner who also offered a map and some tips. I was also pleasantly surprised with how nice and cosy the hostel looks like. The rooms are also big and other hostel mates seem friendly. After settling down, I headed out to start my first day in Naples, which was also my first day in Italy.
